Higher education athletics are going to look pretty diverse in the coming decades, and new NCAA Major 12 commissioner Brett Yormark is very well informed.
At Huge 12 Media Times, Yormark was asked about possibly including teams from the Pac-12 meeting, two months after USC and UCLA announced their move to the Massive Ten convention in 2024.

“As I mentioned in my opening comments, we’re exploring all possibilities,” Yormark explained on Wednesday. “And we’re open for company. And optionality is good, and we’re vetting all of them. I imagine it can be good to say I have acquired a ton of phone phone calls, a lot of curiosity. We’re exploring those people concentrations of desire. Very little is imminent.”

Although the Large 12 will be losing Oklahoma and Texas in the next number of many years, the meeting will be incorporating four universities in 2023, with BYU, UCF, Houston, and Cincinnati becoming a member of the meeting.

“I can say at a significant amount, I’m an advocate of NIL,” Yormark informed reporters Wednesday. “I received my toes wet at some degree at Roc Country, where we had been engaged in NIL. From a private position of look at [I] have not definitely spoken to our key stakeholders about it. I think there requirements to be guardrails. There in all probability needs to be uniformity. And possibly the conference requirements to take a bigger job in what NIL appears to be like going ahead.”
